My entire professional career has been spent within the field of Art Education at all levels, having worked,
I took advantage of taking early retirement in 1989
in order to take on work as an independent Art Consultant, and at
the same time to return to teaching in a 11-18 comprehensive school.
Subsequently I am now a Principal Examiner for GCSE/AS/A2, and am
concentrating on my own studio practice. I have always produced my own creative work in conjunction with my teaching roles during my forty year career in Art & Design Education. More recently since my retirement I have developed my skills as a Painter using Watercolour, Inks and Acrylics as my media. I continue to build some ceramic sculpture that are suitable as garden works, and I am developing new works from Handmade Watercolour paper, Warriors. My Watercolours encapsulate an established interest in the male form as exemplified in the Classical sculpture of Greece and Rome. Other influences are the figurative works of traditional sculptors, such as Moore, Frink and Butler, whose great concern for the refinement and embellishment of surface when creating their works, was paramount. |
